Seeing the building from the inside is nothing short of spectacular — lush tropical plants provide an immersive canopy in the structure fabricated with refurbished shipping containers. In addition to using rainwater for utilities, solar panels on the roof collect enough energy every month to cut utility bills in half.

Howdy’s main workspace is on the first floor, where team members get together to problem-solve for engineering, design, and product management solutions. Dozens of Howdy team members utilize this workspace on a hybrid basis, spending some days in the office with teammates and working the remainder of the week at home.

Down the hall is the meeting room, suitable for a half dozen people to get together and talk plans for the next quarter or interview candidates for an open engineering position. Scattered throughout the building are dozens of nooks and huddle-friendly seating areas perfect for getting together with a few coworkers for a change of scenery and to go over projects.

The sustainable and dog-friendly office has a colorful and relaxing lounge area, great for grabbing a mid-day refreshment and enjoying a breath of fresh air. When it’s not raining, the retractable roof opens to allow Colombia's naturally cool breezes to flow into the building freely. This feature doesn’t just help with energy costs for reducing air conditioning; it also helps give the office a less claustrophobic feel.
